Winky's consultation/pre-op appointment 12/18/06
First visit, removed the Pre-existing Shoe to evaluate the Foot. Drained an Abcess. Dr. McNeil took Radiographs. After
receiving the Radiographs from Dr. McNeil I consulted with Dr. Carter Judy at Alamo Pintado as well as Dr. Esco Buff. I sent
a copy of the Radiographs via e-mail to Dr. Buff. Dr. Esco Buff noted that there was no signs of Bone Infection, only a lot
of Separation of the Horny Tissue from the Sensitive Tissue. It was Dr. Buff's recommendation to remove the Tissue in the
area that had Seperated the most. Therapeutic Appointment scheduled in 1 Week.

therapeutic shoeing appointment 12/27/06

Dr. Aiden McNeil assisted in putting Winky under sedation
before I began trimming the left hind foot.
Note the puncture wound parallel to Apex of the Frog
about 1" from the White Line.

After trimming Wink's foot, Dr. McNeil and I decided it was in Winky's best interest to remove the Horny
Laminae that had seperated from the Sensitive Structures trying to leave Sensitive Laminae and Perioplic Ring attached.

After cleaning up the foot I concentrated on the puncture wound to see what kind of shape the sole and frog were in.
After draining large amounts of fluid and bacteria, Dr. McNeil and I could see the Sensitive Sole had seperated from the Horny
Sole and the tract was much larger than previously thought. I decided to leave the sole and a portion of the frog intact to
give a little support and advised the owner to keep Winky on strick stall rest. Post-Op scheduled in 1 week.

post-op appointment 1/3/07

Post-Op Check after Therapeutic Shoeing. Swelling is coming down and all signs of infection are gone. Perioplic Ring
remains jammed up causing lameness.

Post- Op after Therapeutic Shoeing. New hoofwall is being produced at Buttress of Heel, Sensitive Laminae is starting
to harden. Winky is doing better. Re-Check appointment in 1 week.
re-check appointment 1/13/07

Swelling is all but gone. Winky has now grown 1/2" of new Hoof Wall at the Buttress of the Heel. The Hoof looks great
but Winky is showing strong Grade 3 Lameness.

Due to the level of Lameness, Dr. McNeil and I decided to futher unload the Perioplic Ring by my doing a High Resection
of the Horny Laminae.

Winky was noticeably sore on the left hind. Dr. McNeil and I were both concerned that Winky might Founder on the right
hind do to the excess weight bearing. Due to this concern I applied a Rigid Heart Bar Shoe as a preventative measure.
Follow-Up appointment scheduled in 2 weeks.
follow-up appointment 1/16/07

Winky is sound again on Left Hind and bearing weight. The swelling has greatly reduced. I removed more Horny Laminae
to reduce distortion to new Hoof Growth. Note the amount of Heel being produced. Follow-Up scheduled in 2 weeks.
follow-up appointment 1/31/07

I viewed the Hoof and applied Hoof Testers. After receiving no Positive Reaction I decided it was time to Trim Away the
Seperated Sole and Frog.

Winky's Hoof after being Trimmed. This picture really sheds some light on just how well Winky's Hoof is doing. No signs
of Bruising, no Infection and no Prolapsed Sole. Looks Great! Follow-Up scheduled in 1 1/2 Months.
follow-up appointment 3/6/07
Checked on Resection Site and Tested Winky's Hoof. Winky's doing great. Scheduled
a 1 month Follow-Up.
follow-up appointment 4/6/07

Winky's Hoof is almost back to normal. The Sole is Hard and Healthy, the Frog is Full, making Ground Contact and looking
very Healthy. The Bars of the Foot are very Full and Strong Enough to Support Weight. Overall the Foot looks very Healthy.

Winky's Hoof is almost completely grown out with very little Distortion. I predict with one more set of properly taken
Radiographs, (Recorded Length Dorsal Wall Marker and Recordable Sole Marker) and a good Trim, Winky should be back to work.
Follow-Up scheduled in 1 Month.
